Lis Bockelman is a New York-based singer, pianist and songwriter from the small musical town of Galena, Illinois. Raised on classic rock and disco, and a steady diet of Old Hollywood musicals, her love of performing started early with Singin’ in the Rain, The Sound of Music, and Grease.

She first took the stage at 11 as an Irish dancer at a local pub in Galena, where weekly performances gave her some of her earliest lessons in being onstage, including how to grab a microphone, introduce the dancers and talk to a room full of people (before and after the show).

Then, in middle school, she saw Million Dollar Quartet and became fascinated by the energy and rock & roll of Jerry Lee Lewis at the piano. She went home and started practicing for hours every day. She had truly never seen anything like it.

Music eventually took Lis from Galena to Chicago, Philadelphia and now New York City, with performances everywhere from piano bars and stages across the East Coast to Norwegian Cruise ships. Her own music blends rock, soul, funk and pop, drawing inspiration from The Beatles, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder and Carole King, with the piano at the center of it all.
